I had one of the neatest experiences at work today!
Around 3pm or so we got a call from reporter Alexandra Limon of Fox 11 News that they were doing a story on the Unemployment Insurance Program that will be expiring December 28th, 2013 and how this will have such a negative impact on thousands of people in California that currently count on the program’s assistance. Reporter Alexandra Limon was contacting agencies that assist people who would be impacted by the expiration of the Unemployment Insurance Program and they were able to come by WHW (Women Helping Women/Men2Work) and interview one of our clients that was getting assistance with choosing professional clothing to go on job interviews. I was assisting our client, Kathy Selves, as her Personal Shopper and they took some time to interview Kathy and we both ended up getting some air time on their live update at 5;30pm PST.
It was such an awesome experience because as I have mentioned in some of my previous posts, one of the things I absolutely love about my job with WHW is that I get to help and give back to people, so to have our organization come on the news and one of our clients interviewed is another way for people to hear about WHW. It is just such a wonderful feeling of fulfillment I get from my work and all the things I am learning and how thankful I feel that I have the opportunity to give back and help our clients, and also having opportunities like this to give people that maybe haven’t heard about WHW a chance to hear our name and catch a glimpse of what our organization is about and how we assist our clients in preparing for employment.
Here’s the clip from the air time we got on Fox 11 News!
