I started to write this post during one of my many moments of rest during our family getaway to Idyllwild. We’re back home now and pretty much settled in and I thought I would share some of our pictures and finish the thoughts I started…
Today is our third day in Idyllwild and it has been such a pleasant little trip. There’s such a different rhythm here, everything is more slow and quiet and we find ourselves enjoying the relaxed pace of our days. Granted we also have Celeste and Biggie and they each add their own element of mischief and fun. What we’re learning though is to be more flexible and understanding, that we may have certain plans but things don’t always go as we may want.
I’m finding this was definitely the best way to get in some rest and relaxation. I’m not worried about getting things done, cleaned, or organized and I’ve been giving myself the luxury of resting and enjoying a nap while Celeste is napping.
We’ve been able to enjoy a few light hikes together and Celeste seems to really be enjoying the outdoors and walking along with us or riding on her hiking pack with her Papa.
I was telling my husband this would be a great place for us to come together, just the two of us. There’s such a quaint little feel to this place. They have small massage and salon places where we could enjoy some pampering after exploring some fun hiking trails, cute little stores you can stroll by and window shop, or buy, whichever is your pleasure…
Even if you aren’t a big nature lover I highly recommend this place for any couple or family that just wishes to experience a change in pace.
This morning we went back to Café Aroma (www.cafearoma.org) to have breakfast there again and there was quite a few people now that it was a Saturday morning. We got to talking with an older couple sitting at a table next to us with their beautiful dog, a Wheaton Terrier, when the lady asked how old Celeste was and then we shared stories of our daughter, their grandson, and our respective pooches. On top of that there was also a musician playing live music for us, some beautiful guitar tunes. I don’t know about you, but I haven’t been to a place where they play live music during breakfast at 9am. There was a couple people there with their dogs having breakfast and my husband said to me how well behaved their dogs were and we laughed at the thought of Biggie because had we brought him to breakfast with us, that beast would be pulling at his leash trying to grab any morsel of food he could reach, on the ground or table. He’s not very civilized.
It was a wonderful four days and I hope that we can go back there again soon. Here’s some of those pictures from my phone. Most of them are on my husband’s phone so I’ll need to add some of those later.
