Today three of my friends and I treated my best friend to a day at Disneyland in celebration of her birthday. It was a sort of double celebration for our friend because it had been a very, very long time since she had been there so she was long overdue for a visit. Although we were only there for a few hours it was a day of magic. We not only got to enjoy some fun rides and the Aladdin show (a must see!)  but it really gave us a chance to catch up and enjoy the time together. 

My favorite part throughout the day was getting a chance to interact with each one of my girl friends and then when we sat down for lunch and shared some funny and personal stories, which I won’t be disclosing here because some things are just better left to the imagination. As the day went by I started to think about how much my circle of closest friends mean to me, these four ladies included of course, and how much I love them and share with them and what it is that makes them dear to my heart. And this brings me to the other part of my topic: friendship and what defines a friend.

At least for me, a really good friend is someone who will be there at all times whether it’s to give you support, love, or encouragement and will love you for who you are. Not only that but a friend is someone who will be honest with you and have the courage to tell you when you’re wrong or when you’re being silly or stubborn. I think this is one of the most important things to have in a true friendship because if you can’t be honest with each other and share the good and the bad, then really what kind of friends are you?

Today made me think about all my friends and how thankful I am for the support and love they’ve given me throughout the years. Some of these friends are related to me my blood, or by marriage, or because God brought them into my lives and what they all share in common is that they each mean the world to me and I’m going to make sure to appreciate and value their friendship.
