Yay, how cool, our favorites won!

Best Actress: Natalie Portman for Black Swan. She looked beautiful and deserved the award for (as my husband so perfectly said) her powerful performance. She truly personified all the troubling emotions and internal battles of her character Nina.

Best Actor: Colin Firth for The King’s Speech. I got tears in my eyes when I saw the clip they played of the King struggling to read the speech as his wife has her arm around him. I think every one of us can relate and at some point of our lives has felt such struggle and despair.

Best Movie: The King’s Speech. An excellent movie showing the triumph of the human spirit and overcoming obstacles.

I can’t wait to see some of the other movies that were nominated and we haven’t had a chance to see like Biutiful, The Rabbit Hole, The Kids Are Alright, and Blue Valentine.

Until tomorrow…it’s time to get back to the books.
