Life · Zero to Hero - 30 Day Challenge

A little refresher

omgThis is how I often feel, especially since becoming a mother, and especially now that I’m sitting here staring at the blank open space figuring out what I’m going to write. For those of you that have been following my blog for some time (thank you!!), you’ve noticed that I have gone a bit MIA in my posts, but now that I’m all done with my degree and I have some more available free time I’m excited about getting some consistency in my writing. So I thought, what better way to do that than making a commitment to writing, and so I’ve decided to participate in the Zero to Hero blogging challenge. If you don’t know about it you can find a link and more information here.

If there’s something I love it’s a challenge, especially when it comes to something that will help me become disciplined and consistent, so naturally I was excited about this, until I saw today that the first challenge is to introduce myself. Hence why I have waited until well past 10pm to start writing this post! After much pondering (see image above again) this is what I came up with…

I’m 38 years old and recently finished a 20 year journey of getting my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, which you can read more about here. I am also a first time mom to our 2 year old daughter named Celeste, I’ve been married for a little over 4 1/2 years, and we also have a mischievous 5 year old Olde English bulldog named Biggie, yes, named after Notorious B.I.G., and he is as notorious as his namesake.

When I first started this blog I mainly wanted to get myself out of my safe comfort zone (personal journaling) and explore the world of blogging which I knew absolutely nothing about. I was terrified – still am sometimes, especially just before I hit “publish”. Since then so much of my life has changed, namely becoming a parent (see face above again) and one of the biggest changes/challenges I found happening was merging the woman I had been for so many years with the mother being born out of me. What I want to continue to do with my blog is not only to share aspects of my life that involve the woman in me such as work, personal growth, friendships, and marriage, but also connect this aspect of myself with this new mommy role of mine and the constant hilarious and oh-my-gosh-what-have-I-gotten-myself-into kind of moments since becoming a mom.

Plus I learned something really important about myself this year, that I am a helper by nature and very much a people person, and I thrive on personal connections. I look at my blog now as a way for me to share experiences and uncover and gain new insights about myself and also as a way to connect with other bloggers out there and help each other out in our journeys. So…Let’s enjoy this together!
