It’s the little moments

November and December always tend to feel like a blur of celebrations and days to get through. The start of the Fall and the months leading to Christmas and New Years are always a busy time for the hubby and he tends to get force hired at work a lot.

I was almost certain he would get forced to work on January 1st, and much to our joy he got to come home and be here for his full 4 days off. What a wonderful way to start the new year!

On Saturday the 1st we decided to load the bikes and take the girls to the park. We hadn’t done that in quite a while.

We went to a park that my husband and I used to go to when we first started dating in 2006. It’s near my work and he would pickup Pollo Loco for us because it was right across from the park, and we would sit near the lake during my lunch time and talk and laugh.

On Saturday I happened to be sitting in a spot that was directly opposite the side of the lake where we sat so many times from 2006 – 2009. As I sat there looking at the spot we used to sit, I couldn’t help but reminisce about all the talks and laughter we had shared in that space and how here we were almost 15 years later with our two daughters. I also thought about the day in 2008 when at that spot across from the lake I had told him I was pregnant. He told me later how nice it was that I had told him at the park. Sadly, we lost that baby when I was about 9 weeks pregnant. God had a plan though, because here we were almost 15 years later with two blessings and love I couldn’t have imagined back then.

I love when we get to have my husband home on a weekend because we get to spend it together as a family. We have down time to relax and also time to explore and get some vitamin D.

On Sunday we took the girls to Bolsa Chica Wetlands. It’s such a beautiful place to walk, but definitely layer up if you go during this time because it can get pretty windy and cold; especially later in the afternoon.

It’s all these little moments, that if you focus on them, they add up to so much joy and gratitude.
